About Regional Centre Nagpur
Earlier, the entire Maharashtra was under the Single IGNOU Regional Centre situated at Pune. To fulfill the increasing aspirations of Vidarbha people for a nearby Regional Centre and with a view to serve the learners in this area, the Board of Management of IGNOU, in its 89th meeting held on 26 February 2007, has approved to establish a Regional Centre at Nagpur.

This Regional Centre started functioning from April 01, 2009 in the local Study Centre premises. The formal inauguration of the Nagpur Regional Centre was held on September 10, 2009 in its present premises. It has a jurisdiction of 14 Districts of Maharashtra namely, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Hingoli, Nagpur, Nanded, Parbhani, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal.

IGNOU is a central University (under Government of India) with all India jurisdiction and having Centers in few overseas countries.

It offers various programmes in distance, through which, one, who has desire to acquire knowledge/ skills/ qualification in their chosen field, can join the University.

IGNOU provides complete study material (in self learning format) to its Learners, besides using multiple media for providing better learning experiences. They include face-to-face counseling, audio video sessions, interactive radio and TV sessions, online resources and also the compulsory Lab sessions/ workshops/ project/ real life activities for skill development.

These activities are held at specialized Study Centres/ Programme Study Centres. All these activities are planned with minimum disturbance to one’s daily routine, at the same time, without compromising the quality of educational inputs prescribed for that academic certificate.
